BELLEVILLE – For the second year in a row, Loyalist College’s QNet News team will pair up with TVCogeco Belleville for a live election show.

The show will air Oct. 19, the day of the federal election. The coverage will include the election results in the three local ridings: Bay of Quinte, Northumberland-Peterborough South and Hastings-Lennox and Addington.

Students from the Journalism: Online, Print and Broadcast program auditioned and have been selected to fill the roles of hosts, results host and reporters.

Let’s meet this year’s co hosts:

Mark Hodgins

and Makala Chapman.

The other students selected include Buckley Smith as results host and reporters Sean McIntosh (Hastings-Lennox and Addington), Nick Ogden (Northumberland-Peterborough South) and Samantha Reed (Bay of Quinte). Reporters will be on location in each of the ridings.

The hosts are already getting prepared and say they are excited to be a part of the show this year.

Scott Meyers, the manager of programming and community relations for TVCogeco,  said he looks forward to working with the students as he did in last year’s municipal election.

Meyers also said the students will benefit from this opportunity because it will be the only TV newscast about the federal election in this area.

He added that it is important for students to enjoy their experience.
