BELLEVILLE – Brighton will soon see a McDonald’s and Shell gas station off Highway 401 at Telephone Road, if all things go according to plan.

It was announced at Monday’s council meeting that the Ministry of the Environment has approved the proposal to build.

The city’s planning consultant, Darryl Tighe of Landmark Associates Limited, said the site plan agreement has been completed and insurance is provided.

All traffic light issues have to be dealt with first before any building permits can be issued, Tighe said.

The McDonald’s restaurant and Shell gas station would be located just off Highway 401 at the intersection of County Road 30 and Telephone Road.

If all plans go accordingly, Brighton will soon see a McDonald's and Shell gas station at off the 401 at Telephone Road and County Road 30.

It was also hinted that another big-chain restaurant may be on its way.

Tighe said within the next few weeks, he expects an application to come in from Tim Hortons, although there’s no word where the coffee shop will be located.

Residents of Brighton expressed their excitement over social media.

The McDonald’s and gas station were suppose to open in the summer of 2015 but had yet to receive approval. As of now, there is no set date of when these projects will start building.
