BELLEVILLE – A Belleville man was arrested Monday morning after a security guard at the Belleville General Hospital was threatened with a knife.

A 21-year-old male was being looked at by staff in the emergency department when police say he began to damage equipment in an examination room.

Before leaving the hospital he threatened security with a knife.

At 11 a.m. the man was found a short distance away. He is being held for a bail hearing this afternoon.

He is facing charges of mischief, breach of probation, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
