BELLEVILLE – Wednesday was a busy day for the police on the streets of Belleville.

According to Belleville Police, at least eight motorists were charged with crimes ranging from distracted driving to driving while under suspension.

Police focused much of their efforts on North Front Street and Bell Boulevard in an attempt to nab distracted drivers.

In the span of an hour and a half, seven motorists were charged for talking on their cellphones.

At least three other drivers were charged with driving while under suspension.

In the early hours of Thursday morning another driver was charged with impaired driving.

At 12:25 a.m. an officer attempted to stop the vehicle on Bridge Street East. While initially the 36-year old male driver refused to stop, his vehicle did finally come to rest on Montgomery Boulevard.
