Deaf community worried about changes at Canadian Hearing Society

  • September 19, 2016 at 2:12 pm

By Ashley Clark

BELLEVILLE – Changes to the bylaws at the Canadian Hearing Society have sparked concern in the deaf and hard of hearing community in Belleville.

The conversation started when an upset CHS member posted on the Belleville Association of the Deaf Facebook page about a bad experience she said she had at the society’s annual general meeting on Sept. 10, where the vote to change the bylaws was taking place.

“Recently, the CHS Board made some changes which included the decision not to provide membership to interested individuals who wish to become a member of CHS, including the Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing communities,” the post began.

It received 24 shares and several comments.

More to come.
