Police investigating accident find man’s body

  • April 12, 2017 at 2:10 pm

BELLEVILLE – A single-vehicle accident last Wednesday led Northumberland OPP to a man’s body – though they later determined the accident did not cause his death.

At about 5:45 a.m., police responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Northumberland County Road 21 near Shiloh Road in Cramahe Township.

When they arrived, they found a man’s body in a wooded area nearby. The man has been identified as the driver of the car, a black Chevrolet Cobalt, that was involved in the collision. But the investigation found that his death was not related to the crash.

No one else was involved in the accident, police say.

Foul play is not suspected, they say. The man’s name is not being released.

The Northumberland Crime Unit has taken over the investigation with the assistance of technical traffic collision investigators and officers from the Northumberland OPP detachment.
