BELLEVILLE – The westbound lanes of Highway 401 between Belleville and Napanee were temporarily opened after being closed earlier due a weather-related pileup, but are now closed again due to a truck-trailer accident. Buses have been sent out to retrieve stranded motorists.

About 20 cars were involved in the pileup, and six people have been taken to hospital, according to the Weather Channel’s website.

In the latest day of nightmare weather for the region, school buses were cancelled in Belleville, Trenton and Prince Edward County. Schools in the County closed their doors.

Belleville Police are advising everyone to stay off the road, and for those who are currently out there, to be careful and watch for detours.
