Loyalist students not deterred by melting rink

  • January 14, 2014 at 1:06 pm

By Suzy Willig

Loyalist College students utilizing the hockey rink behind the school, next to the new residences, are not stopped by the rain and mild temperatures over the weekend.  The natural rink floods and then freezes over again, leaving the rink smoother.

Some players said they feared that the weather would stay warm and their rink would melt. Environment Canada predicts the temperature is expected to drop below zero Tuesday evening and colder temperatures are expected for the weekend.

Eastern Ontario’s first cold snap of the year was followed by three days of rain and mild weather earlier this month.
