Belleville flasher trend under investigation

  • July 26, 2011 at 10:22 am

By Marc Venema

Belleville Police received another report of a flasher last Wednesday night, but it wasn’t reported until the next day.

A MacDonald Avenue resident was standing on her deck when a male walking by on the sidewalk pulled his shorts down and exposed himself to her. He eventually pulled them back up and walked towards Dundas Street East.

The suspect is described as a white male in his early 20’s, approximately 6’0”-6’1” tall with a thin build. He was wearing a loose style white shirt and white shorts.

Belleville Police Sgt. Julie Forestell said this year about 12 indecent acts were reported. It is an unusual year with the large number of incidents when it comes to indecent acts and the matter is being investigated.

Forestell also urges the public to contact police immediately in cases like this.

“What we are asking from the public is that if a member of the public witnesses a suspicious person or suspicious activity or suspicious car to please call the police as soon as possible,” Forestell said.

She said the sooner officers are dispatched to the area, the greater chance of catching the suspect.
