Serious assault in east end of Belleville on Wednesday

BELLEVILLE – A Belleville man suffered serious head injuries after an assault at a Russell Street home on Wednesday afternoon.

Belleville police responded to a call around 2:00 p.m. after a report of a disturbance. When the police arrived, the victim was immediately transported by paramedics to Belleville General Hospital. Police say the man was then transferred to Kingston General Hospital shortly after.

The identity of the suspect is still unknown. Criminals Investigation Branch has taken over the investigation with help from the Forensics Identification Section, police said.
