Eviction deadline for homeless people on Napanee man’s property is this week

  • November 27, 2018 at 3:01 pm

By Tyson Nayler

BELLEVILLE – For over seven months, a Napanee man has been housing homeless men, women and children in trailers outside his home – but due to zoning bylaws, the municipality requires all of them to move out by this Friday.

The trailers must be gone by Dec. 3, Napanee says.

Scott Drader has been trying to help homeless people for the past decade or so.

Since receiving a final eviction notice on Nov. 3, he’s been trying to find places where his residents can stay. Four have moved into a house in Kingston, but Drader still has six people he is trying to help before they are forced to go homeless during the winter months.

QNet News will be visiting the Napanee property on Wednesday to interview Drader on updates for this story.

More to come.
