BELLEVILLE – The Trenton Golden Hawks manage to keep the first-ever Hasty P’s Cup out of the hands of their long-time rivals, the Wellington Dukes, on Wednesday.

Wellington was leading the series 7-3 going into the game. And if they won this game, they would’ve won the series and taken the cup home.

The Golden Hawks took Game 6 of the eight-game series 1-0 with the only goal being scored in the third period by Andrew Bruder, who was assisted by Dalton Bancroft and Jacob Campbell. Trenton dominated the ice, outshooting Wellington 35-25 as well.

Trenton Head Coach Peter Goulet says goalie Joe Ranger’s contribution huge.

“In his first two games, some players may have been judging him, but the fact of the matter is that he has not played hockey in ten months.  He was our rock.  That was a great start, but we have two more to win.  We can enjoy this today, but our focus has to turn to Friday,” he said in a press release.

Game 7 of the series is being played in Trenton starting at 1:30 p.m.

The series score is now 7-5  for the Dukes. It needs only one more win to take the series.  However, the teams will play all eight scheduled games regardless of the results.
