Continue to expect construction delays in Belleville

  • November 20, 2014 at 4:29 pm

By Kate Shumakova

BELLEVILLE – Several streets in Belleville are still under construction heading into winter, but there’s good news for those who drive through the Dundas Street West construction site.

Jack Bouwman, project manager of engineering for the City of  Belleville, said that road improvements, which began in July, could be completed within 10 days.

“If the weather cuts us a little bit of a break, we’re hoping the project will be completed the by the end of November,” he said.

A block of Station Street, right across the Via Rail train station, is closed due to construction on the new fire hall. Heavy equipment and vehicles block access to the street so it has to be cordoned off for the time being.

There is also construction on Highway 62 near Walmart where work is being done on a nearby Highway 401 overpass. The road is open but is down to a single lane close to the Walmart intersection.
