BELLEVILLE – A local woman is dead following a collision south of Campbellford Tuesday morning.

OPP and ambulance responded to Northumberland County Road 30 just after 9 a.m.

The road, between County Road 29 and 1st Line West, was closed for five hours as officers investigated.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision, said Cst. Steve Bates of Northumberland OPP.

The woman died at the scene. The other driver, a 67-year-old Campbellford woman, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Bates added there was an animal in one of the vehicles, which has been transported to a local veterinary hospital.
