Man arrested for assaulting police

BELLEVILLE – A Cobourg man was charged with assaulting a police officer on Sunday, Jan. 24.

Cobourg Police said they responded to a report of an upset intoxicated man in the downtown core of Cobourg.

After a brief confrontation with police, the man was taken into custody without further incident.

The 31-year-old man was released on a promise to appear and is set to appear in court on Feb. 24.
