Belleville man killed trying to walk across Highway 401

BELLEVILLE — A Belleville man was killed after a highway accident in Kingston Friday night.

William Runham, 37, was struck and killed trying to cross Highway 401. He had exited his vehicle after his car collided with a concrete centre median.

The incident occurred between Joyceville Road and John F. Scott Road. Police were dispatched around 7 p.m. Runham was pronounced dead at the scene.

The stretch of highway was closed until 12:30 a.m. Saturday while police investigated.
