Local teacher accused of multiple sexual assaults

BELLEVILLE — Ontario Provincial Police have laid 36 charges of sexual assault against a teacher with the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board.

Stirling resident Jaclyn McLaren, also known as Jaclyn Jones, was charged Feb. 15 and went to court in Belleville the next day. On Friday, she appeared again in court for a bail hearing and additional charges were laid.

She is charged with:

  • Four counts sexual assaulting a person under 16.
  • Four counts of sexual interference with a person under 16.
  • Four counts of invitation of a person under 16 to sexual touching.
  • Eight counts of sexual exploitation.
  • Six counts of luring a person under 16.
  • Six counts of making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16.
  • Three counts of making child pornography.
  • One count of making sexually explicit material available to children.

McLaren’s next court date is scheduled for Thursday, March 31.
