BELLEVILLE – Police are looking for a federal offender who has been unlawfully at large for almost a year.

The OPP Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad is seeking the public’s help to locate Gurfathe Kooner, 31, who was serving a three-year federal sentence for multiple firearms and ammunition-related charges.

Kooner is also wanted by Windsor Police on charges including fraud over $5,000, breach of recognizance, uttering death threats and failure to attend court.

Additionally, he is wanted by Essex County OPP for unauthorized possession of a firearm, breach of firearms regulations, possession of a firearm with its serial number removed and possession of a firearm when he had been prohibited from doing so.

The ROPE squad describes Kooner as “a non-white, Middle Eastern” man with brown eyes, a shaved head and a dark goatee. He is six feet three inches tall and weighs 241 pounds, and has several tattoos: a tiger on his right forearm, tribal symbols on both forearms, barbed wire on right wrist, and a tattoo saying Punjabi on the right side of his neck.

He is known to frequent the Windsor and Greater Toronto areas.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the ROPE squad at 416-808-5900, toll-free 1-866-870-7673, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or call 911.
