Children waiting for school bus targeted by suspicious man in white van
BELLEVILLE – The Northumberland OPP are looking for a suspicious man in a white passenger van after he approached children at a bus stop Monday morning.
The police received a report at 8:45 a.m. about a man near a Hoskin Road bus stop in the Alnwick-Haldimand Township. The suspect waited around the bus stop with several children, where he offered to give them a ride to school.
The suspect told an adult at the scene that the children had missed the bus, and when the adult declined the ride offer, the suspect drove away.
The driver of the van was described as around 50 years old, with dark, short hair and a dark goatee. He was wearing glasses and a black ski jacket. The white passenger van he was driving had a black stripe down the side.
