  • January 29, 2020 at 11:01 am

By Ryan Peddigrew

BELLEVILLE – Prince Edward County’s council started its discussion on the plans for the 2020 budget plans Tuesday night.

Council agreed to approximately $98,000 from the provincial modernizing fund, a one-time Ontario government grant towards an administrative review to see how it could be more effective and practical.

An additional $91,000 from the fund was allocated towards a recreation/facilities online booking system, an online public consultation tool, and a payroll human resources IT system.

Council also decided on which funding requests from organizations and community groups to move forward with:

  • $40,000 per year over the next 10 years to support the Kingston General Hospital redevelopment.
  • $20,000 in 2020 for food insecurity.
  • $13,450 in cash and up to $11,840 in-kind for use of municipal facilities to continue operating the County Seniors Centre program.

Council re-opened their budget discussions Wednesday morning at 9 and will continue throughout the week.
