BELLEVILLE – Shane Sabourin, the man who brought a knife onto Loyalist College property last month, pleaded guilty to three charges in court on Nov. 7. He served a one day jail sentence, received 12 months probation, along with a two-year weapon prohibition.

Sabourin, 24, from Carlton Place, is not a Loyalist student, president Maureen Piercy said after the incident in a college wide e-mail. Piercy attached a Belleville Police brief in the note, which described how Sabourin came onto campus and started showing students the knife, but did not threaten anyone with it. Police arrived and subdued him with pepper spray after he became confrontational.

Sabourin pleaded guilty to resisting police, possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.
