Serious accident on the 401

  • November 25, 2015 at 9:33 am

By Buckley Smith

BELLEVILLE – A serious accident  on Highway 401 early Tuesday morning left a 33-year-old Toronto woman dead and the eastbound lanes closed temporarily.

Constable Steve Bates of the Northumberland OPP told QNet News late this morning that the investigation is still in its infancy and therefore he could not provide the exact details, although he was able to confirm the death of the woman, who was from the Toronto area.

Bates said he could not release the name of the victim or the number of vehicles involved in the accident, but added: “With the way the 401 is, you can imagine that any serious accident isn’t going to involve just one vehicle.”

The accident occurred at approximately 6 a.m. between Grafton and Colborne.
