BELLEVILLE — What started as a house fire led to a large marijuana grow operation being discovered.

On Friday Feb. 19, the Greater Napanee fire department were called to put out a fire at a house on Highway 33 near Adolphustown.

While putting out the fire, an indoor growing operation was discovered and the Napanee detachment of the OPP were called to the scene.

The call led to the seizure of 13 kilograms of marijuana. The estimated street value of the seizure was over $90,000.

A 46-year-old Adolphustown resident is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The man faces two counts of production of a controlled substance and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
