Belleville burn ban could be lifted by Saturday

  • August 10, 2012 at 12:59 pm

By Marc Venema

If the forecast is accurate for the rest of Friday and Saturday, burn bans in Belleville could be lifted as soon as Saturday.

Belleville senior fire prevention officer Dave MacMullen said he spoke with the fire chief on Friday afternoon and was informed that things were heading in the right direction.

“The chief said it’s currently in place but if we continue to get the amounts of rain that we are anticipated it may be lifted tomorrow (Saturday) but currently it’s still in place in the Belleville area,” MacMullen said Friday afternoon.

He urged residents to obey the laws until an official announcement is made.

Meanwhile, an open burn ban in Prince Edward County is still in effect but barrel burns and campfires are now allowed.
