BELLEVILLE – A national support group for mothers is bringing a branch to Belleville.

Momstown is an event and media company providing programming to children up to the age of six. An annual membership costs $85 per family and includes children’s programming, in-person and online support for mothers and discounts at local businesses.

The Momstown Belleville web site launched March 3.

Leanne Ballard, owner of Momstown Belleville, said the company’s goal is to relieve the seclusion mothers often feel by connecting them to their community.

Family Space Quinte Inc. – Ontario Early Years Centre is a government-funded early-education facility in Belleville, a competitor for Momstown. Kelly Mathieson, executive director for the centre, says more children’s programming is needed, especially north of Belleville.

Mathieson added that Family Space’s government-funded programs and experienced staff separate it from other early-education organizations.
